A MyGate alternative for societies that only need maintenance collected
MyGate and NoBrokerHood are full community apps, and for large gated complexes they make sense. If your society's real problem is getting dues paid and receipted, a focused tool is simpler for residents and lighter on the budget. Here is a fair way to decide.

Which kind of app fits your society
An all-in-one app fits when
- Guards at the gate approve visitors, deliveries and domestic staff every day
- Residents book the clubhouse, gym or pool through the app
- A facility manager runs a helpdesk for complaints
- The society is large enough that one app for everything saves effort
A focused maintenance app fits when
- You have 20 to 300 flats and a volunteer committee
- The pain is collecting dues, chasing late payers and writing receipts
- Older residents will not install another app, but use WhatsApp and UPI daily
- The committee wants a published price, not a quote
All-in-one community app vs Aangan
How the two approaches differ. Features and prices of other apps change, so check each vendor's current offer.
All-in-one community appAangan
- Main jobAll-in-one:Running the gate and the community: visitors, staff, helpdesk, bookings, paymentsAangan:Collecting maintenance: bills, reminders, payments, receipts and the ledger
- Gate and visitorsAll-in-one:Core featureAangan:Not included, on purpose
- ResidentsAll-in-one:Install the app and sign inAangan:Open a WhatsApp link and pay with any UPI app
- PriceAll-in-one:Varies by vendor and society size. Ask for a written quote per flatAangan:Published: free up to 20 flats, then ₹6 per flat a month
- Payment feesAll-in-one:Varies. Ask what residents pay on UPI, cards and net bankingAangan:No fee on UPI. Card and net banking fees shown before paying
You can use both
Some societies keep a gate app for security and move only their money to Aangan, because the treasurer wants receipts on WhatsApp, UPI without fees and a ledger the auditor can open. The two do not get in each other's way.
Six questions to ask any society app before you sign
- Is the price per flat published, or only given after a call?
- Do residents pay a convenience fee on UPI?
- Does the money settle straight into the society's bank account?
- Can we export the full ledger whenever the auditor asks?
- Do residents have to install an app to pay?
- If we leave, do we keep all our records?
Aangan's answers are on the pricing and FAQ sections of the home page. If billing is your main need, see what Aangan's society billing software does in detail.

Switching questions
What committees ask when they compare society apps.
For maintenance collection, yes: Aangan is free for societies of up to 20 flats, with bills, UPI payments and WhatsApp receipts. It does not do gate or visitor management, so it replaces only the money side.
