What makes a reminder work

Most late maintenance is forgotten maintenance, not refused maintenance. A reminder that names the flat, the month and the exact amount, and lets the resident pay in one tap, gets paid. A long message in a busy group chat does not.

  • One flat, one message. Send it to the person who pays, owner or tenant, not to the whole group.
  • Make paying easy. Include the society's UPI ID or a pay link. Every extra step loses payments.
  • Say what happens next. If interest applies after the due date, say the rate and the date, as your bye-laws allow.
  • Send the receipt. A receipt on WhatsApp after each payment ends the “I already paid” argument for good.

Sending these by hand every month adds up. Aangan sends each flat its own reminder on WhatsApp with the amount and a UPI pay link, adds late interest by your rule, and sends the receipt the moment the payment lands.

Questions about maintenance reminders

Keep it short and polite: the flat number, the month, the amount, the due date and a way to pay, such as the society's UPI ID or a pay link. Add a line asking residents to ignore it if they have already paid, and sign it from the treasurer or the committee.
